AJIO Bought Tomorrow’s Face Today

AjioAhaanPandey

On October 5, 2026, AJIO named Ahaan Panday its brand ambassador and the face of ‘Festival Is Festivalling,’ its festive campaign for the season, making the most deliberate timing call in Indian fashion endorsement this year.

The campaign, conceptualized by The Script Room, runs across India’s entire festive calendar: Ganpati, Navratri, Pujo, Dussehra, Diwali. It frames the season not as a series of separate occasions but as one long, continuous stretch of getting dressed. Ahaan appears across it all, positioned as AJIO’s shorthand for how young India celebrates. The platform, part of Reliance Retail, operates a catalogue of over 2.6 million SKUs serving more than 19,000 pin codes. Ahaan gives that scale a face.

Ahaan’s debut film, Saiyaara, released on July 18, 2025. It became the highest-grossing Indian love story of all time, grossing over Rs 570 crore worldwide on a reported budget of Rs 45 crore. His audience is almost entirely the 18-to-25 cohort AJIO has been courting. Here is the timing that matters: his second film, an untitled action-romance directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and co-starring Sharvari and Bobby Deol, only started shooting in April 2026 and is not expected until early 2027. AJIO moved in the gap between Ahaan’s first proof and his second test, when his market price reflects one blockbuster, not an established pattern.

The branding lesson is about the window, not the name. A celebrity’s endorsement price rises every time the market confirms them. The correct move is to sign after your target audience has been proven, but before the rest of the endorsement market catches up. You are not buying existing fame. You are co-authoring a career, at a fraction of what that career will eventually cost. The brand also gets something no amount of money later buys: the sense that it spotted the star first, which lands with Gen Z exactly as credibly as any campaign claim.

The brand that signs the star between films writes the story the industry will later pay to borrow.
