Lenskart Made Its App a Concert Hall

Shunya

For five evenings in October 2026, Lenskart's own app became a concert hall.

The trigger was Shunya, 37 frames launched under Lenskart's Indian Accents line, each silhouette shaped by sitar curves, flute proportions, and lotus geometry. To mark the drop, Lenskart ran Lenskart Live: Sounds of Shunya, a series of nightly performances streamed exclusively inside the Lenskart app from October 8 to 12. Ten artists performed across the five evenings, including Arunita Kanjilal and Nandini Shankar, covering Indian classical, Carnatic, Sufi, and ghazal traditions. Each session ran for one hour, from 7 to 8 pm, with no paywall and no third-party platform.

The mechanism is not novelty. It is coherence. The Shunya collection pulls its design language from Indian music's physical vocabulary: the curve of a sitar's body, the geometry of a flute, the symmetry of a lotus. The performances that launched it draw from the same vocabulary. A viewer watching a Carnatic recital on the Lenskart app is, without being told, absorbing the rationale for why the frames look the way they do. Design and experience are running the same argument at the same time.

The branding lesson runs deeper than cultural alignment. Most brands treat their owned app as a transaction layer: browse, add to cart, pay. Lenskart treated it as a venue. When a brand turns its distribution channel into a destination, something shifts. The customer opens the app not to buy but to be somewhere. That is a different relationship with the platform, and it is harder for a competitor to replicate than a discount or a design refresh. The channel stops being infrastructure and starts being identity.

The frames are the product. The concert was the proof.
