The Ingredient That Was Always There

LotusHerbals

Lotus Herbals did not change a single ingredient in its 15-year-old White Glow Gel Crème. It changed what it said on the front of the pack.

To mark the 15th anniversary of White Glow Gel Crème in October 2026, Lotus Herbals refreshed the packaging to place Niacinamide prominently on the front label and launched a new campaign across television, OTT, outdoor, and social media. The film features emerging actress Heer Achchra and runs on Zee5, Jio Star, and national TV channels, with a co-powered sponsorship of West Bengal's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. The formula, combining niacinamide with saxifraga extract, milk enzymes, and grape extract, was unchanged from day one.

The logic is straightforward. White Glow Gel Crème arrived in a market where Indian consumers bought results, not ingredient lists. That market has shifted. A growing segment now arrives at the shelf already knowing what niacinamide does, having encountered it on newer brands that lead with percentages and actives. By surfacing what was already doing the work inside the jar, Lotus Herbals earns credibility with this group without reformulating for them. CMD Nitin Passi noted at the launch that when the Gel + Crème format first appeared 15 years ago, it was truly ahead of its time. The same turns out to be true of the ingredient it contained.

The lesson applies well beyond skincare. Ingredient transparency is not a tactic reserved for challenger brands that put percentages on minimalist bottles. A legacy product can compete in the same conversation by making legible what was always true. The label becomes the relaunch. Lotus Herbals did not need a new formula to address a new buyer. It needed a new front panel.

The most overlooked asset in an old brand is the proof that was already in the product.
